Good Morning!

I have been making quite a bit of green smoothies lately. My routine goes a little something like this. On any given day I have one to two quarts of a blended green drink. This drink includes a few basics with some variation. Each smoothie has three to four packed cups greens and two pieces of fruit, 2 apples, 2 pears, 2 peaches, whatever looks good and is fairly close to in season. Then I add in one whole lemon, yup the whole thing, the zest, the rind, and the fruit. If it is too intense for you in the beginning, you can cut off some of the zest and that will make it a little li. There are so many beneficial bioflavonoids in the peel and membrane parts of lemons, one them being hesperidin, which in some studies has been shown to reduce oxidative stress in the liver. It's sure to boost your daily nutrition! I love ginger, so that is a must have for me in most of my drinks. I also like to add a pinch of high quality salt to my smoothies. This helps to balance out the sugars in the fruit, provide a little more mineral content, and make the smoothie more grounding. That is the basic outline for a delicious green smoothie, and anything else is just an added bonus.

For my latest Video, Another Green Smoothie, I used my basic green smoothie platform and added a little boost! White chia seeds and blue green algae! Here are the proportions.

4 cups Romaine
1 whole Lemon
2 red crisp apples, like Cameo or Pink Lady (for more of a tart flavor, you use granny smith)
1 inch chunk ginger sliced
2 tablespoons white chia seeds soaked
1 1/2 tablespoons blue green algae
1/4 - 1/8 teaspoon salt
3 - 4 cups high quality water such as spring water

There you have it! Enjoy the video and leave your comments below.
